Cam & Erwin's Wedding

Cam & Erwin's wedding at The Crosley Estate in Sarasota Florida was absolutely gorgeous. They were blessed with the best weather that the city has had in weeks (there was an overcast & rain the day before and after their big day). You can tell how great the weather was just by looking at the pictures. The food, open bar, hilarious slideshow & first dance all made it a special day/ night. These now newlyweds get the award for most creative first dance. After a few minutes of doing a traditional first dance to a special song, they broke out into a choreographed dance with moves & music they grew up to. Erwin even busted out his breakdancing skills. Such a fun night!

Guess who caught the bouquet at Cam & Erwin's gorgeous outdoor wedding?

Yankee's Spring Training

Spring training fever everywhere right now. While in Tampa, we were able to find time to squeeze in Yankee's Spring training/ exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers. The weather was warm & sunny, we had great seats and such a fun time. None of us are Yankee's fans, but it was nice to watch a good team with a ton of history and not have to pay the same price tag we would've paid at Yankee stadium in NY for our seats near 3rd base.

In addition, I also took full advantage of my view of A. Rod's hot bod.

La Teresita's

Mmmm Cuban food. This place hits the spot. If you're looking to satisfy your Cuban food craving and you're in this area - this is the place to dine at.

While in Tampa on a mini-vacay, I stopped in with a few friends before checking out Yankee's spring training (it's literally 2 minutes away from here). It's not a fancy restaurant and there are no individual tables or booths. You simply walk in, take a seat at an open stool & order.

I can't believe how much food they gave me for only $6. For that amount, I got the ropa vieja which came with 2 sides. I chose the amarillo rice & collard green soup. Everything was satisfying & delicious. The portions were so huge that I had to take the rest of my meal home in a to go box.

I wish there were Cuban restaurants in California!

La Boulange: Cannele

#44 Cannele
Boulangerie Bay Bread (La Boulange Bakery)

7x7 The Big Eat SF 2009: 100 Things to Try Before You Die
..................................................................................................

I can't back up the cannele here (think sponge cake with an egg-y taste to it). I'm not even sure why this item even made it to the 7x7 list, but I can vouch for the food at this french bakery/ cafe. There are about 10 locations scattered throughout SF carrying breakfast items, lunch & pastries. Today, I decided to enjoy the sunny weather with a light lunch which happened to be today's special of spinach, artichoke & roasted peppers in puff pastry with an organic spring mix salad. For one, I loved the fact that it was healthy since I ate several unhealthy meals throughout my stay in Florida. Everything tasted so fresh. Since it was vegetarian, I didn't think it would fill me up, but it did! Healthy + filling + tasty = a huge plus. Oh, I also tried the passionfruit macarons and didn't care for them. Nothing beats the macarons at Bouchon Bakery.

Price: the daily special + cannele + macaron = $12 for lunch

Verdict: I'll definitely be back, but not for the canneles!

Hard Work Pays Off

...and I'm proof! I got promoted!!!

Extremely excited, but afraid at the same time.

Now I can embrace turning 1 year older (in a few weeks) knowing that I'm headed in the right direction.

Alice in Wonderland

A Friday night date with a few of my favorite people for the opening weekend of Alice in Wonderland in 3D. The movie was entertaining, Helena Bohnam Carter outshined Johnny Depp - I really wish he had more of a stand out performance, but can't help what the directors wanted from him. I did appreciate the 3D effects. A lot better than most of the recent 3D movies I've seen lately (except Avatar, of course).

We were quite amused with the funny shape of the glasses.

P.S. I can't believe I watched 3 movies in 3 days this weekend: AIW, Shutter Island & Dear John. Shutter Island was amazing and such a mindtrip.

If I could change one thing...

With my annual review and planning for development meeting coming up next week, I'm left with papers in hand, thoughts in head and career/ academic regrets slowly surfacing. Yes, major much needed reflecting going on. While rustling through my written (or typed) self-assessment and notes on past meetings, I also realized I haven't updated my resume in awhile - hell, I can't even find it.

Guess that's what happens when you've been working for the same company for almost 5 years.

Since I'm doing all of this other written work and personal/ career reflecting, I figured, might as well create a new resume. You never know when you'll lose your job or when a new opportunity comes knocking. I'm a little rusty in this department so if you have any tips & tricks, I'm open to suggestions.

Anyhow, I like to think of myself as someone who embraces the present and does everything I can today so that I don't have any regrets tomorrow. Turns out, I'm human. Here are a few tips for the relevant readers:
  • Never graduate from college without interning/ gaining work experience at companies where you can see yourself working post-graduation. The earlier you start, the better.
  • Gain leadership skills by joining on-campus organizations
  • Study abroad
  • Volunteer
  • Do your best and get a GPA high enough to post on your resume (3.5 and above). Companies look at this when they're hiring recent graduates.
  • Never stay at one place for too long if you're not moving/ learning

Collins Cookin' @ The Cottage Eatery

Old friend and chef, Collins, invited a few of us out to his current restaurant The Cottage Eatery days before their last day in business. Collins has been a chef for several years now and we've followed him to his last 3 restaurants and every time it's always an incredible dining experience.

This restaurant is located in the beautiful city of Tiburon, just a few miles away from Sausalito. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of everything because I was obviously stuffing my face the entire time.

I Love CURRY

Stephen Curry is my current athlete crush. This month he turns 22, which makes me somewhat of a cradle robber. At least he makes watching this crappy Warriors season THAT much better.

Here we are, just hanging out after his game against the Denver Nuggets :)

Haha! A girl can dream, right?
